Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: 10 Reasons The Original Is Better
6. Better Pacing
There's a brilliant lightning-quick pace to the original movie, because it has to introduce so many characters to the audience that by necessity it hits the ground running and never really stops until the end credits roll.
Vol. 2 is clearly a much more comfortable, complacent effort, and to that end gets rather bogged down in a swamp of subplots by the second act. By separating the Guardians for large portions of the film, it ends up feeling a bit stilted as it then quickly attempts to tie them all back together.
The original's rag-tag urgency is replaced with a clip that alternates between feeling overly busy and sluggishly self-indulgent, as already mentioned.
