9. Ego Killed Meredith

You can see it coming, but the gut-punch of Ego revealing that he was responsible for Meredith Quill's death was still pretty flooring.

It's revealed that Ego killed Meredith by giving her brain cancer. Presumably, he couldn't have done that while Peter was still in utero (just in case it somehow affected his health), and he also couldn't have done it while Peter was old enough to remember his father (he clearly isn't aware he's met him, even if he has). So are we to believe that he put a slow-burn tumour in her head to get rid of her?

Why not do it quicker, if he knew he would be drawn back to her irresistibly? For a genius manipulator, that sort of casual timeline is just silly.
