8. Hasselhoff's Cameos

Easily the strangest moment in the entire film comes during Peter's realisation that Ego is actually an evil space Hitler, rather than a doting father. As a genius pay-off to the earlier revelation that Peter used to pretend his father was David Hasselhoff (or Xardu Hasselfrau as Gamora brilliantly spoons it), Ego transforms into Hasselhoff for a fan-baiting cameo as he suggests the Hoff is Peter's ideal of fatherhood.

It's the ultimate expression of Gunn's freedom to do whatever he wants, and a confident statement at that. Where else would you get that sort of distracting cameo in a blockbuster this big?

And then later, the legend with "the voice of an angel" turns up to rap over the final credits. David Hasselhoff RAPS over the end credits. That sentence will never not be weird.
