When Ego was revealed to be Peter's dad online well before the film was released, the question of how exactly a huge planet and a lady could have sex was pretty quickly raised as a humorous criticism of the creative decision to replace J'Son with him.

And that cynicism is reflected perfectly in the film as an in-joke when Drax asks Ego if he has a penis (he does, and it's a damn fine one), and excuses his question by saying he needs to know how he would have been able to have sex with a human without smushing her.
