21. The Cheers Gag

There's a very Ross/Rachel dynamic about Gamora and Peter Quill's relationship throughout Guardians Vol 2, without much real resolution (much to Drax's enjoyment), and at one point, Star-Lord offers a meta-reference point for their relationship.

He says the pair enjoy an unspoken romantic connection, just like in a TV show, where there's this unspoken thing that the writers extend without resolution in case the ratings drop. He specifically mentions Cheers, which had two of those relationships (the first one between Diane and Sam ending to pick ratings up), which is another nice touch.
