Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2: What Does The Ending Really Mean?
11. We'll Get Another (Much Bigger) Awesome Mix
In the very final moments of the movie, Kraglin and Peter share a moment over the death of Yondu - their father figures in different ways - as Star-Lord passes on the repaired Yaka Arrow to the Ravager and he reciprocates with a Zune music players.
Putting aside the comedy value of the exchange (especially in the assertion that "everyone" on Earth is using them in 2014), the music player means we're going to get an expanded third volume of the Awesome Mix that no longer needs a narrative lead-in tied to Peter's life on Earth.
And even better, the Zune's capacity of 300 songs means there will be a huge catalogue of songs the third film could draw from for its soundtrack, and also that they dont' necessarily need to be limited to the 70s and early 80s.
