Why She Might Die

It's perhaps a little cruel to say it, but Mantis is the most expendable member of the Guardians crew that was remembered enough to be in Infinity War (sorry, Kraglin). She's a newcomer and is comparatively undeveloped, which means that it might be a little easier to kill her, particularly when it's hard to see where her story can go.

Sure, she might be linked closer to Drax in this sequel, but nobody wants a romance there because it looks like shipping for the sake of giving her something to do. Then again, if we're diving into Drax's past a little more, then that sort of emotional conflict might serve the story well.

Why She Could Survive

Partly because she could be an interesting part of the rumoured Drax-focused story, but also because she's so undeveloped that killing her would be pretty pointless. We know too little of Mantis to make her death really land, which is unfortunate, but not if it saves her.
