Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2: 7 Things We Learnt From The Sizzle Reel
5. The Ravagers Are Key Players In The Sequel
The Ravagers had a presence throughout the first Guardians, with Yondu and his crew playing loving and antagonistic foils to Star Lord and co throughout. This time around they are key players with a major part to play, featuring heavily in the footage shown at Comic Con.
In fact, so much so that they attended Hall H in full Ravagers regalia, heckling the panel throughout the presentation. The leader of the mutinous crew is Taserface played by Chris Sullivan. Stop laughing back there, that's really his name. Gunn had a running joke throughout production of the first film, teasing that he'd do all in his power to make Taserface a villain in this franchise and it looks like he got his wish.
"It’s worth noting that four years ago when I was hired for the first Guardians film, I joked that I was going to make Taserface my villain. I suppose it’s no longer a joke."
In the comics Taserface is a Stark - not to be confused with Tony Stark. They are a race of purple skinned creatures that built a society based on future Iron Man tech. As with all things Marvel Studios, don't expect this to be the case when you see Taserface on the big screen next summer.
Gunn himself described Taserface as " Incredibly-powerful yet incredibly ridiculously-named...".
With that ringing endorsement it waits to be seen if he is in fact the big bad of Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 2.
