Recognizable to fans of HBO's Boardwalk Empire, on the big screen at least Shea Whigham is still regarded by many as as unknown quantity. However, with supporting roles in several high-profile projects over the last few years the talented 45 year-old's cinematic career is definitely on the upswing. Breaking through with a memorable turn as an antagonistic soldier in Joel Schumacher's Tigerland, Whigham has quietly amassed a solid resume throughout the 21st Century. On top of a small role as an FBI agent in the fourth and sixth entries of the blockbuster Fast and Furious franchise, the actor also provides support in genre pictures The Lincoln Lawyer, Machete and Non-Stop, as well as critical favorites Take Shelter, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street. Whigham has already worked with some of the most respected directors in the business; David O. Russell, Martin Scorsese, Werner Herzog (Bad Lieutenant), Robert Redford (The Conspirator), Oliver Stone (Savages) and Terrence Malick (the upcoming Knight of Cups). An always reliable presence no matter the amount of screentime his characters get, the actor needs more substantial roles to showcase his undoubted acting chops.
