Halloween 2: 7 Big News Revelations About The Upcoming Sequel

1. And A New Director...?

Suspiciously missing entirely from the report is anything even resembling a hint towards who is directing.

In mentioning David Gordon Green returning as a producer, it's kind of implied that he won't be returning to the director's chair for a second film. The report does also clarify that though Scott Teems is both a writer and a director, he is exclusively working as a writer on this film and is not expected to be the director.

Thus, we have a lot of hints as to who isn't directing but few as to who is. It's entirely possible Blumhouse will be looking to recruit a fresh set of eyes to get behind the camera for the sequel.

Lately, Blumhouse has kind of established its own stable of writers and directors they like to work with (see: Teems recent crop of scriptwriting duties for them, Leigh Whannell taking over The Invisible Man for them) and it would not be at all surprising to see a director such as Christopher Landon, Sophia Takal, or even Mike Flanagan step onboard in the next few months.

There's also the possibility that Green could still yet step up and take over directorial duties as well and it just hasn't been officially confirmed yet so everyone's staying mum about it. And then of course if Blumhouse wanted to get really crazy they could always offer the gig to the maestro who started it all back in 1978, John Carpenter himself.
