Halloween 2: 7 Big News Revelations About The Upcoming Sequel
2. It Has A New Writer
The bulk of the new exclusive report about the sequel over at Collider is concerned with the news of the brand-new screenwriter attached to the sequel, who is none other than Scott Teems.
That name may not immediately leap off the page as someone audiences are familiar with, but after having spent years writing and directing small and confidently crafted short films, Teems has recently been pulled up to big leagues. Having now crafted scripts for Blumhouse's upcoming adaptations of both Stephen King's Firestarter and the novella The Breathing Method.
Obviously, the folks at Blumhouse are big fans of Teems' writing. Hand-picking him for such massive horror projects as Stephen King adaptations and their Halloween sequel show they have a great deal of faith in him.
It's also worth noting that Teems gained awards and acclaim for his great short film That Evening Sun back in 2009, which was a character-based drama centering on an aging farmer facing a changing world. Seeing him bring this kind of gravitas in his writing to the character of Laurie Strode would be a real treat and a way to expand the character's development in the previous film.
