Halloween 2018: Everything We Know So Far

5. Adam Wingard Was Almost The Director

David Gordon Green eventually got the gig, but the latest Halloween sequel was almost directed by somebody completely different.

Adam Wingard, the man behind the recent Blair Witch reboot and The Guest, claims he was close to helming the movie after being approved for the job by John Carpenter.

He told The Movie Crypt...

"You know, I almost actually did the Halloween movie that they're doing. It almost happened, but the deal just kinda fell apart. When I found out those rights were available I was immediately trying to figure out how to get in on that. But ultimately what I realised was I kinda already made my Halloween movie with The Guest. So it felt like it would be retreading on that kind of thing. In a way though, I still want to do a Halloween movie."

The chance to direct Halloween would no doubt be a dream ticket for an up-and-coming horror filmmaker like Wingard, although the fact he's since landed Godzilla vs. Kong is probably all the consolation he needs, and then some.
