Halloween: 8 Things We Need In The Next Film

4. David Gordon Green's Return

Halloween II
Universal Pictures

Much like the rumors of Blumhouse already having meetings with other potential writers for the next Halloween film, rumors have been circulating for weeks now that they've also been meeting with potential new directors.

But here's the thing - unless that new director is none other than John Carpenter himself, they've already got the perfect man for the job in David Gordon Green.

Green understands the visual vernacular of Carpenter and the original 1978 film in a way that none of Carpenter's other successors have. This is probably most easily spotted in the long take or the entirety of the third act, but Green's insistence on wide, voyeuristic shots and long-takes puts audiences right in the middle of the action and masterfully builds suspense in a way that no film since the original has.

Green has been vocal in recent interviews about being more than willing to return for a sequel, and Miramax and Blumhouse would be foolish not to take him up on that offer.
