Halloween Kills: 10 Biggest WTF Moments
7. The Mob's Passion
One of the biggest complaints of Halloween Kills is its script, which is to be expected when the previous film also had some problems in this area. There's definitely some great character work found throughout Kills, especially in regards to Laurie, Hawkins, and Allyson, but the actual plot and progression of events feel very underdeveloped.
This is most notable in the mentality of the angry mob that forms in the wake of Michael's latest rampage. So many ordinary people are quick to resort to violence, and not only does it paint a very ugly picture of modern-day Haddonfield, but it just smacks of lazy writing.
If the mob just consisted of a few key players that all had a connection to Myers on some level, it wouldn't be so bad. But here, there's a ridiculous amount of people arming themselves to the teeth and chanting 'Evil Dies Tonight' in a rather cult-like manner.
It feels as if the film is trying to make a statement about mob mentality, especially with its minor mistaken identity subplot, but the overall message is muddied by a lack of development that makes these scenes feel awkward and unrealistic.
