Halloween Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Some Of The Dialogue Is Genuinely Awful

In fairness, dialogue has never been the series' strong suit, even in the original movie, but one definitely gets the impression that Danny McBride's contributions to the script probably resulted in some of the more groan-worthy dialogue.

From a character joking about smothering peanut butter on their penis to mind-numbingly stupid banter between the teen characters - which while embarrassingly authentic, is also utterly charmless - and a bizarre discussion two cops have about sandwiches, none of it really feels like it belongs in a Halloween movie (a good one, anyway).

Though there are certainly some great one-liners and even a few comic relief gags that actually hit the mark - a young boy being babysat by one of Michael's targets is especially hilarious - overall the script feels like a first draft in desperate need of tightening up.
