Halloween Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. There's A Totally Unnecessary Plot Twist

No spoilers here of course, but there's a plot twist in this movie that comes wildly out of left-field before quickly being discarded.

The moment involves a sharp motivation shift for a certain character that doesn't feel remotely earned or sufficiently telegraphed. Ultimately it just feels like a lazy way to keep the plot chugging along and set the stage for the third act.

Some may defend the reveal as a subversion of one of the original movie's tropes, but it feels more tacked-on and underwritten than genuinely interesting or entertaining.
