Han Solo Movie: Everything You Need To Know
6. It Could Draw From New And Old Canon
Han Solo's backstory has fascinated Star Wars writers for years, on either side of the Disney buyout that saw the old canon of spinoff books, games and comics thrown out in favour of a new continuity. The rumour mill surrounding the Han Solo film suggests that Expanded Universe materials both new and old could've inspired the movie.
Recent Star Wars comics published by Marvel have taught fans that Han Solo once had a wife, of sorts. He married black human female Sana Starros in a scam ceremony in a bid to pull of a robbery. Han, naturally, made off with all the profits and left Sana to eat his space-dust. Could Sana make an appearance in the film? It's pretty plausible, and the timelines would line up nicely.
Also, Woody Harrelson has described his character to SlashFilm as "a mentor to Han" but also "a bit of a criminal." This has led fans to believe Harrelson could be playing the big screen version of Garris Shrike, a crime kingpin and bounty hunter from the old continuity that took a young, orphaned Han under his wing, teased him with details of his past and showed him the space pirate ropes. Maybe Han will bump into his former mentor in his cinematic spinoff, and change allegiances to fight him.
