5. His Belief In Pure Blood

Bigotry is a hell of a thing and it's always an added texture to the pot when the person being a bigot is a complete hypocrite. Which is why Voldemort's pursuit of a Pure Blood magical community is so poetically undercut by his own past. It's also why he went to such lengths to create his Lord Voldemort character and wipe out his best - even if his name being literally an anagram of who he really was is plainly stupid...

But by all accounts, Voldemort's agenda is fundamentally dependant on an actual belief of the superiority of purity. His past traumas made him think Muggles weren't very nice, obviously, but he operates on the idea that Magic Is Might and attempts to eradicate all magical impurities - the same classification that would have wiped himself out under a similar cleansing regime.

It's hypocritical and it's absolutely the point here, but it's still absolutely stupid of Voldemort to believe in purity as power when he's not pure and half of his Death Eaters are Pure Blooded and pure dumbasses.
