Harry Potter: 10 Most Hated Characters

While perhaps not the most "hated" character in the series, the main antagonist is certainly the most evil. Based on a combination of a few 20th century tyrants, Lord Voldemort yearns a world in which wizards rule over muggles. Come to think of it, the phrase "Magic is Might" has a certain Orwellian feel to it.

Even when we have a look into Tom Riddle's childhood, there is very little to redeem him. Torturing the other children at his orphanage, framing Hagrid for the murder of a student, opening the chamber of secrets... Even before Riddle discovered his lineage from Salazar Slytherin, things weren't looking good.

What is perhaps the most detestable, though, is that despite his obsession with blood purity, his father was a muggle. It is definitely worth re-reading The Half Blood Prince to see the full makings of this evil dictator.
