Harry Potter: 10 Movie Scenes That Are Completely Different In The Books

3. 'Did You Put Your Name In The Goblet Of Fire?' (The Goblet Of Fire)

Goblet Of Fire Angry Dumbledore
Warner Bros

In The Book: 'Did you put your name into the Goblet of Fire, Harry?' he asked calmly.

In The Film: 'DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?! DID YOU ASK AN OLDER STUDENT TO PUT IT IN FOR YOU?! FIGHT ME'

Summary: There's not much to say here other than that the book version wins in a landslide. Michael Gambon, who never read the books (go figure), was miscast as Dumbledore from the word go (following the tragic death of Richard Harris, who had the character down to a T), and never was this more obvious than when he grabs Harry by the throat, pins him against the wall, and literally screams in his face. Director Mike Newell also deserves a dishonourable mention here, for allowing this tragedy to ever have happened.
