Harry Potter: 10 Of The Best Movie Tracks

3. Journey to the Cave - Nicholas Hooper

Critics (all right, the Nostalgia Critic) may sometimes pooh-pooh the use of the choir in many of today€™s modern movie soundtracks, but it is certainly welcomed in this one. Hooper subtly adds to the beautiful body of noise that rouses the listener to great excitement for the tragic climax of 'The Half Blood Prince'. Like in many of Nicholas Hooper€™s Potter tracks he cleverly mixes in with the stirring melody a sense of dread, ever keeping in the viewers mind that the worst is yet to come for Harry and his friends.

This track is played over a conversation between Harry and Dumbledore just hours before the latter€™s (SPOILER!) death and the music, whilst building up to a crescendo of excitement for the climax of the film, still pays tribute to the fact that Dumbledore€™s dis-apparition to an island surrounded by crashing waves will be the last time he ever leaves the grounds of Hogwarts.

Whilst not writing articles for WhatCulture! Stephen can usually be found livin' it up in the city or livin' it down on the couch in front of one of many DVDs. You can tell how many of his friends are in Edinburgh at any given time by measuring how prolific he is on this site.
