But Umbridge was even more villainous when it came to how she treated her students.

The first sign she was a sadistic maniac was during Harry’s first detention. Rather than giving him ink, Umbridge forces Harry to write using his own blood for hours at a time without any breaks or distractions from the pain.

During her tenure as High Inquisitor and Headmistress, Umbridge also bans Harry from playing Quidditch, prevents teams and societies forming without her permission, and allows Filch to carry out medieval-style punishments. Indeed, had it not been for Fred and George’s timely escape, the pair of them would have been whipped in the dungeons by the mad caretaker.

Thankfully, she gets her comeuppance when she’s attacked and carried off by a group of centaurs in the Forbidden Forest. As satisfying as it is to witness this event, Umbridge was so cruel during her time at Hogwarts she really deserved a much harsher punishment.
