8. Gilderoy Lockhart – Attempted To Wipe Harry And Ron’s Memories
Gilderoy Lockhart is one of the more overlooked villains in the Harry Potter franchise, and some fans don’t even consider him to be a villain. Though he's not a Voldemort supporter, his desire for fame made him commit plenty of dishonourable deeds.
After stealing Ron’s wand, Lockhart attempts to wipe the memories of his two companions in the hope of returning back to safety and telling the other teachers that Harry and Ron have gone mad at the sight of Ginny’s body.
Thankfully, the wand backfires and Lockhart ends up in St Mungo's Hospital. The fact remains, however, that had he been successful, he would have done permanent damage to two students purely because he wanted to save his own skin.
