Harry Potter: 10 Weird Rules A Student At Hogwarts Must Follow

8. Remember A Password Or Solve A Riddle To Enter Your Room

Suppose you've had a long day learning spells, surviving the onslaught of your fellow pupils and draining all of your energy playing quidditch. In that case, the last thing you want is to remember a password to get into your own room, especially if you haven't gotten the memo about the recent change and find yourself locked out.

While it does make sense to keep the dorm rooms safe through magical intervention, this is not a suitable method, as it can cause significant problems for the students, and the ever-changing nature of the passcodes can leave plenty of pupils in the dark. It's especially bad as the school has a strict 10 o'clock curfew that needs to be abided by.

Making matters worse is that if you're a Ravenclaw member, you don't even get the luxury of having to remember a word. Instead, you need to answer a riddle every single time you go into the dorm. How frustrating and ludicrous must that be?

At least the Hufflepuffs have it alright, they simply need to tap 'two from the bottom, middle of the second row' in a stack of barrels.
