Harry Potter: 10 Weird Rules A Student At Hogwarts Must Follow

6. Girls And Boys Cannot Be Within 8 Inches Of Each Other

It seems that Hogwarts was ahead of the curve when it came to social distancing.

This enforced rule resulted from the ridiculous measure put in place by Delores Umbridge and even started tamer. The original Education Decree Number Twenty-Six dictated that boys and girls must remain six inches apart before being increased to eight inches in Decree Number Thirty-One.

This was only one of the few ludicrous rules put in place by the tyrannical pink-clad villain. Some of the others included a ban on The Quibbler Magazine, no secret student organisations, no sweets from "unauthorised suppliers", and more. An entire list could be dedicated to her overbearing measures, but seeing as they were eradicated after she departed, they don't hold too much sway.

Still, the ridiculous concept of segregating the young boys from the young girls was peculiar, especially seeing as it was an integrated boarding school. Staying that far apart from other pupils wasn't always possible in a busy corridor or classroom, and needless to say there are other aspects of a school full of youth that would be interrupted.

The rule was just another sign of how mad with power Umbridge was.
