Harry Potter: 10 Weird Rules A Student At Hogwarts Must Follow
5. A Ban On Apparating
Imagine this, you're running late for class, and the moving staircases are up to their old tricks again, you know you cannot be late, and as a magic wielder, you have a perfect skill that can help you out, literally teleporting you wherever you want to go. But, you're not allowed to use that spell under pain of reprimand.
That must be quite an aggravating scenario.
Sadly, that's what Hogwarts students experience daily, as the incredibly convenient ability to teleport between places is one of the most significant rules that pupils cannot break. This seems to be enforced by a spell that counteracts apparating and disapparating, but it's never made clear exactly why this rule exists.
It's logical to assume that the ban on this convenient trick is an added security measure designed to ensure no unwanted guests make their way into the school grounds. But, if such a spell banning the travel technique is possible, it's surely able to be altered to allow the students to use it inside the grounds and block others from entering.
Either way, the students will have to be content with walking to defence against the dark arts classes.
