Harry Potter: 10 Worst Characters Introduced After The Philosopher's Stone
7. Rita Skeeter
Rita Skeeter is a character that everyone loves to hate and hates to love. How can we not? She's here to stir the pot and cause drama. Her gaudy fashion, her toxic Quick-Quotes Quill and her brutal spins on stories made her a perfect addition to the Goblet of Fire.
In the fourth film, Harry's life is stressful enough after he's mysteriously called as a champion for the Tri-Wizard Tournament, but that's nothing compared to his interviews with Skeeter. This sly journalist plays on Harry's tragic past and spins a narrative that isn't particularly true or flattering.
It was brilliant to see her brought to life in all her twisted glory but what really annoyed fans was that the films omitted a lot of her story. In the books, Rita becomes a recurring character and a reluctant ally after Hermione discovers a secret that allows her to blackmail Rita.
In the films, however, Skeeter causes trouble in Goblet of Fire but then vanishes until Deathly Hallows where she's only mentioned by name after causing a stir with her book about Dumbledore's life.
As awful as she is, we deserved so much more!
