Harry Potter: 10 Worst Characters Introduced After The Philosopher's Stone
6. Nigel
Nigel was one of the weirdest characters in the series, having never appeared in the books and being solely created just for the films. Fans quickly worked out that Nigel, who began Hogwarts during Harry's fourth year, was created to fill the role of Dennis Creevey, Colin Creevey's younger brother, who started Hogwarts that same year in the book.
After Chamber of Secrets, Colin Creevey seemed to vanish from the story, and so Nigel kind of represented him as well as his brother. He was only a small character who mostly appeared in the background, with very few lines. It just seemed odd to have a brand new character come out of nowhere with no real point to their existence.
There were a handful of continuity errors surrounding Nigel too. He attended the Dumbledore's Army meeting in Hogsmeade, despite only being a second year at the time, and therefore unable to visit the village - a privilege reserved for third year and above. He was also due to die in Colin Creevey's place in Deathly Hallows Part Two but that was later scrapped.
