Harry Potter: 10 Worst Things Dolores Umbridge Has Ever Done

Professor Trelawney is one of the worst staff members at Hogwarts. Despite being the Divination teacher, her powers of foresight are almost non-existent, and she spends too much time freaking out her students by predicting their premature deaths.

In The Order of the Phoenix, Umbridge inspects Trelawney’s classes, and – as the High Inquisitor of Hogwarts – she decides to sack her. Whilst you can understand Umbridge’s decision, trying to remove her from the castle is a step too far. Hogwarts has been Trelawney’s home for over a decade, yet Umbridge has no pity whatsoever:

“…Harry was revolted to see the enjoyment stretching across her toadlike face as she watched Professor Trelawney sink, sobbing uncontrollably, on to one of her trunks…”

Much to Umbridge’s frustration, Dumbledore steps in. Though he can’t stop Umbridge from sacking teachers, he makes sure Trelawney doesn’t have to leave Hogwarts altogether. But despite Dumbledore’s intervention, Trelawney is still shaken by the whole affair.
