Harry Potter: 15 Spells Ranked From Weakest To Strongest
13. The Levitation Charm (Wingardium Leviosa)
A spell best remembered for Hermione attempting to teach Ron to successfully pull it off in The Philosopher's Stone ("It's Leviosa, not Leviosaarrr"), the Levitation Charm allows its caster to make objects both big and small fly.
Taught to first year students at Hogwarts, it's seen as one of the more simple and rudimentary of building-block spells, but despite its simplicity it comes in incredibly handy when Harry, Ron and Hermione clash with a giant troll in the school's bathroom.
The joy of the charm is how well it works on a wide range of objects, one minute used to make a feather float, the next striking down a large beast. Despite this, it's rarely used in the series, which seems like an oversight given its effectiveness.
