Harry Potter: 15 Spells Ranked From Weakest To Strongest

12. The Boggart-Banishing Spell (Riddikulus)

Harry Potter

In The Prisoner of Azkaban, Professor Lupin introduces the students to the Boggart, the Wizarding World equivalent of the Bogeyman. Taking the appearance of whatever its opponent fears, the Boggart allows for some great scares, but the spell used to strike it down leads to some even greater laughs.

The Boggart-Banishing Spell - Riddikulus - allows the caster to turn their worst fear into something amusing, thereby causing the creature to lose its scare-factor.

During its short stay in the series, a giant spider is fitted with rollerblades, Professor Snape gets dressed up as Neville Longbottom's grandmother, and a moon gets turned into a balloon.

It's far from common, since the Boggart is a rare shapeshifter that isn't usually come by, but the Riddikulus spell is certainly one of the funniest and most memorable spells in the franchise.
