Harry Potter: 5 Slytherins Who Were Heroes Not Villains
1. Severus Snape
Was Severus Snape a good man? Harry Potter fans have been asking this for years, and such a question is not easily answered.
Snape was undoubtedly mean-spirited. He was bitter towards Harry from the moment he arrived at Hogwarts and was always looking for an excuse to take points from any house other than Slytherin. And before he was a professor, Snape was obsessed with the dark arts and briefly joined Voldemort’s followers.
Yet without Snape's assistance, Voldemort would never have been defeated. Driven by his love for Lily, Snape acted as a spy against the Dark Lord and helped protect Harry throughout the series. As an accomplished Occlumens, he kept his true allegiance hidden from Voldemort, who never once suspected he was loyal to Dumbledore.
Granted, some fans still dislike Snape to this day, despite the many revelations about his character in The Deathly Hallows. All things considered, the longevity of his loyalty is something to be admired. Regardless of how nasty he could be at times, his willingness to stick to Dumbledore’s task was his most distinctive attribute.
