4. Marietta Edgecombe – Snitched On The DA
In response to Professor Umbridge’s appalling teaching methods and medieval punishments, Harry, Ron and Hermione founded Dumbledore’s Army – an organisation made up of students who learned defensive magic in secret.
But one member of the group ruined it for everybody else. Towards the end of the second term, Marietta Edgecombe told Umbridge about the DA and where their secret hideout was.
Her decision to snitch on the DA was more than a little stupid. She didn’t even care about betraying Cho Chang – who was one of her closest friends. And Marietta could have just left the group without selling them out. This way, her concerns about being a member of an illegal defence group would have been dealt with but the DA would still have continued.
Fortunately, Hermione had cursed the list of DA members and Marietta received a face full of pimples as a result of her actions.
