Harry Potter: 7 Biggest Problems With The Philosopher’s Stone

2. Emma Watson Mouthing Lines

It’s easy to criticise child actors. They don’t have much experience and their performances look particularly patchy when they’re seen alongside acting veterans.

Throughout the filming of The Philosopher’s Stone, Emma Watson developed a habit of mouthing the lines of her co-stars. Director Chris Columbus had to cut numerous takes because of this issue.

Whilst most of Emma’s blunders didn’t make it into the movie, you can clearly see Hermione mouthing Harry’s words as the trio approach Hagrid’s cabin to interrogate him about Norbert. Once you’ve spotted this mistake, it’s impossible to ignore it when re-watching the film.

And funnily enough, Rupert Grint messed up too. When Hermione’s talking about Snape “jinxing the broom”, Ron mouths her words quite clearly.

It’s a strange habit and it knocks you straight out of the story. But thankfully, Emma and Rupert learnt from their mistakes.
