3. Neville Longbottom

Despite helping Gryffindor win the House Cup in his first year, Neville's early years at Hogwarts earned him the reputation of being damn near useless. Of course, this would change by the time he slayed Nagini and helped defeat Voldemort, with one of the big turning points being his time in Dumbledore's Army.

Though he struggled to perform the Expelliarmus spell for a long time, Neville followed Luna in standing up for Harry during their first meeting, praising the boy who lived for killing the Basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets, and he was the one that found the Room of Requirement in the first place.

When Harry decided to go to the Ministry alone to face Lord Voldemort, it was Neville that reminded his friend that Dumbledore's Army was made to be something real, and that if no one went with him to help, what was the point of starting the group in the first place.

Longbottom, who became much better using his wand over the course of the movie, was able to incapacitate one of Voldemort's followers with an expertly applied Petrificus Totalus curse. Not only did he defeat a Death Eater, he came face to face with Bellatrix Lestrange, the woman who tortured his parents, yet still managed to fight through the pain and anger, and keep a clear head.
