Though Remus Lupin was able to come out of the first wizarding war with his life, he lost everyone else close to him. James and Lily perished, Peter betrayed the Order and faked his death, and Sirius went to Azkaban. Still, this did not stop him from helping set up the second Order, and with his wife at his side no less.

Not only did Remus, like Tonks, battle in the biggest battles of the second wizarding war, his biggest value to the Order was his leadership. Lupin was able to keep a level head despite fighting his own affliction throughout the war, and helped steer Harry and the Order towards victory.

Ever since taking a job at Hogwarts, Remus watched over Harry Potter, and in the Order, this stretched to every other member. During the Battle of the Seven Potters, Lupin was paired with George Weasley, and despite his partner taking a near fatal wound, the werewolf was still able to get George back to the Burrow safely with his life.

Another to give his life at the Battle of Hogwarts, Lupin fought evil to the very end, and encouraged the rest of the Order to do the same.
