Harry Potter: Every Order Of The Phoenix Member Ranked
8. James Potter
Along with his best friends in the Marauders, James Potter became one of the key figures in the Order of the Phoenix in response to Voldemort's ascent to power in the first wizarding war. Though many signed up to defeat Voldemort, it soon became very personal for James.
After learning of a prophecy revolving around James' infant son, Voldemort quickly tried to recruit Prongs to his side of the war. James however, despite the incredible danger it put him in, stayed loyal to the Order.
With a target on his back, James took his family into hiding using the Fidelius Charm, but were betrayed by their secret keeper, Peter Pettigrew. Though Voldemort's attack on the Potters ultimately saw the death of James, he did stand up to the Dark Lord while his wife and son attempted to make their escape.
Though his intention of buying them time was good, he came face to face with Lord Voldemort while out of reach of his wand, and was killed instantly. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to buy enough time for his family to make their way out of the cottage.
