Harry Potter: Ranking Every Hogwarts Teacher From Worst To Best

After Harry’s first two Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers, Professor Lupin is a breath of fresh air. He knows what he’s talking about and his classes are always fun to experience.

Indeed, Lupin’s lessons focus on dark creatures. Harry has to tackle Boggarts, Grindylows, Red Caps, and Hinkypunks. And Lupin’s final exam is an assault course rather than a written paper.

Lupin is also integral to the plot of The Prisoner of Azkaban. He explains the Marauders’ backstory whilst in the Shrieking Shack, and how he and his three friends (James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew) used to roam around the Hogwarts grounds disguised as animals.

Unfortunately, Lupin is forced to resign following one of his werewolf transformations. He returns, however, as a prominent member of the Order of the Phoenix in the latter half of the series. And though his death in The Deathly Hallows is tragic, this wise individual will never be forgotten.
