Harry Potter: Ranking Every Hogwarts Teacher From Worst To Best
5. Rubeus Hagrid (Gamekeeper/Care Of Magical Creatures)
Back in The Philosopher’s Stone, Hagrid picks up Harry on his eleventh birthday and takes him into Diagon Alley. As such, Hagrid symbolises every Harry Potter fan’s first foray into the wizarding world.
In The Prisoner of Azkaban, Hagrid starts to teach Care of Magical Creatures in addition to his gamekeeping duties. And despite his lack of experience, his lessons certainly aren’t boring. He introduces Harry to several fascinating creatures, including Hippogriffs, Blast-Ended Skrewts, and Nifflers.
Like Lupin, Hagrid is also a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Though he’s not skilled at magic, his size and strength make him a useful companion in the midst of a fight.
Despite his love of monsters and his unorthodox teaching methods, therefore, you can’t help but admire Hagrid. He’s a gentle giant and a firm favourite amongst Harry Potter fans.
