Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: 12 HUGE Changes To The Battle Of Hogwarts

2. The Molly Vs Bellatrix Duel

The Molly Vs Bellatrix fight is absolutely iconic in both the book and the film, but the book sees Molly take up the duel for different reasons than expressed in the film.

The film shows the fight in a slightly more vindictive than protective light than the book does, and leaves behind a lot of nuance in the dialogue Bellatrix and Molly share before the killing blow is administered.

As in the book, the film shows Molly step up to the duel after Ginny has blocked a killing curse from Bellatrix, exclaiming: "not my daughter, you bitch" - a line that is in all caps in the book. Bellatrix laughs and the two engage in a short duel before Bellatrix explodes in a similarly ashy style to Voldemort's death later on in the film.

The book is slightly different in regards to who Bellatrix is fighting, as Molly steps up to intervene on the behalf of more than just Ginny, as she seeks to also protect Luna and Hermione from the battle. Bellatrix taunts Molly a lot more in the book, cruelly taunting: "what will happen to your children when I've killed you? When Mummy's gone the same way as Freddie?" Molly responds with power, telling her "You — will — never — touch — our — children — again!"

Bellatrix drops dead and Voldemort screams at the sight of her body, expressing more of the human pain Voldemort is forced to endure after years of believing himself invulnerable. In the film, this exchange is absent and Voldemort is nowhere to be seen during this fight.
