Draco was torn in the Battle of Hogwarts, having previously helped Harry in small ways and knowing deep-down who he should side with, but not wanting to risk his parent's safety by supporting The Boy Who Lived.

The Malfoys narrowly missed out on a hefty sentence in Azkaban, which was dropped due to their last minute change in allegiance. After the battle Draco also changed his views on muggle-borns, and - rejecting his father's views - he married Astoria Greengrass, who also rejected the traditional pure-bloodline. They would go on to have a son, Scorpius, who was raised to treat all wizards and witches equally, much to Lucius and Narcissa's dismay.

Draco and Harry's relationship, while better than it was at school, never really blossomed into a friendship. However, their sons, Albus and Scorpius, became fast friends, as they were both members of Slytherin house - which by that time had become a far more accepting house with less stigma around it.
