Has Duncan Jones Sold His Soul For a Virgin?

The British director teams up with Richard Branson to release a brand new advert promoting Virgin's new financial arm.

Moon director Duncan Jones made such an impression with his outstanding debut that few would have doubted that the director, and David Bowie progeny would go on to have an equally impressive career, but we weren't all that taken with Source Code, which was a little too much of a commercial sell-out considering its predecessor, and wasn't all that hot by any means. And now the director has turned his attention to the commercial market in a far more explicit manner, shooting an ad for Richard Branson's Virgin super-brand that channels the spirit of his break-out movie. Here's that very video... http://youtu.be/gbCqknwROtw Regardless of the intentions of the ad - presumably just to show off the super-brand and get everyone talking about Virgin Money, with the ink on the acquisition of Northern Rock still just about wet, and a sponsorship deal with Newcastle United being unveiled as well - but the advert itself is shot very well, and shows off exactly why we were right to suspect that Jones had the skills to make an enduring impression on cinema.
