Have We Just Gotten Our First Look At Tom Hardy's Venom Symbiote?

That's some interesting promo art...

Sony's Venom film may have gotten off to a bad start with fans when it didn't show off the actual symbiote in its first teaser, but actor Tom Hardy (who'll play Eddie Brock in the upcoming production) has been quick to allay fears that it won't be appearing when the film releases later this year.

Now, in a product listing for Brisk Iced Tea's latest flavour (yes, they are a real company), the venom symbiote may have just been revealed proper. First reported by Venom fansite Amalgamated Symbiosis, the product listing for the company's new Dark Cherry Limeade flavour includes promotional artwork for the upcoming film, one that features the nightmarish inflections of the symbiote every Spider-Man fan is sure to recognise.

Previous trailers and posters have shown off the signature eyes and teeth of the Venom symbiote before, but none have displayed the face properly. While this may just be promotional artwork too, it's difficult to see such a detailed look at the character not bearing any indication of what he'll look like in the final cut of Sony's film, especially when those teeth look as intricate (and horrific) as they do.

It might not be the HD look fans have been asking for, but in delaying the reveal further, Sony are only adding to the film's draw. Venom's the big monster of the pic after all, and while this version of the character is said to be more heroic than most, there's no getting away from his horror-based roots.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
