1. Harry Faversham - The Four Feathers
If you wanted a film to act as a screensaver The Four Feathers would more than do. It
looks great. Well, aside from Heath Ledgers hairstyles that is. Featuring shaggy, bearded, foppish and even LEGO man, the various hairstyles the actor sports throughout the film are unsightly. Which is why its a shame theyre the most varied element in his performance. The Four Feathers is based on an 1900s novel with a very filmic narrative; our hero leaves the army and is gifted four white feathers as symbols of his cowardice, eventually unearning them through feats of bravery. It's so naturally cinematic that the book had been adapted six times before the bland 2002 attempt. Ledgers Faversham sports a totally unplacable 'British' accent and exudes little charisma, feeling indistinct in the usual adventure story. The action scenes are good, but whenever things get talky it falls apart.
