Heath Ledger: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

3. €˜Robbie Clark€™ - I'm Not There

There€™s a reason some actors choose to take mainly supporting roles; there€™s a lot more opportunity to stretch their thespian legs when not carrying a whole film on their shoulders. That€™s why from an audience perspective its always refreshing to see a leading man do something a little smaller and remind us what made them so successful in the first place. I€™m Not There was a high-concept biopic of Bob Dylan that had six different actors portray the €œmany lives€ of the musical legend. Ledger was one of these versions, an actor starring in a biopic of a previous €œlife€ who acts as a way into Dylan€™s divorce from his wife Sara (it makes more sense in the film). He even gets to recreate the iconic cover of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, which is pretty damn awesome. It€™s a tricky concept to explain without giving the film's brilliance away, but make sure you check it out; all the actors, including Ledger, give it their all.
