1. We Finally Have Our Boy Back

Can you believe it's almost been ten years since we last saw Hellboy on the big screen?

That last appearance came with The Golden Army, a film that - at the time - fans thought would quickly lead to another sequel. Instead, Hellboy III got trapped in development Hell for a decade and very publicly imploded before our eyes over Twitter. The chance that it could be rebooted, at that moment at least, couldn't placate the masses.

And yet here we are, and Neil Marshall, Harbour et al. are crafting a truly authentic, R-rated Hellboy feature to be released late next year. That's just special, and with yesterday's set photos garnering considerable buzz, it's just brilliant to see people talking about ol' red again. It'll no doubt mean plenty to all the folks that have had a hand in creating the character's colourful legacy, and for fans - this author included - it means just as much.

It'll be Hellboy's 25th birthday next year, and with Dark Horse lining up comics aplenty in anticipation - on top of the film itself - the festivities can only be great. Here's hoping the film will be too.
