Hellboy Reboot: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

3. It's Filming In The Right Places

According to reports, the project will be filming across Europe with principle photography taking place in both Bulgaria and England. That's brilliant news for fans of the original comic, as it was always heavily rooted in European mythology, with most of the action taking place outside of the greater United States.

The aforementioned Storm and the Fury storyline all took place in the British isles, but filming in Eastern Europe will do wonders for the film too, especially if Marshall is really trying to convey both the look and feel of the original comic as authentically as possible. That one set photo Harbour released (and later retracted) certainly showed off a gothic looking interior, so expect the horror vibe to permeate throughout the feature.

Better still, the decision to shoot on location will ensure the film feels genuine, and again, with the bulk of the action taking place away from the US, it's clear that it won't be like its predecessors. That's not to slight the del Toro films in anyway, but moving production to a European setting will only benefit the reboot.
