Hellboy Reboot: 8 Things We Want From The Big Red Revival

7. A Launchpad For Other BPRD Movies

Cinematic universes are all the rage right now, and while only Marvel appears to have the magic formula, why shouldn't Hellboy attempt to build one of its own?

Now, what we don't want to see is the film go about this in a contrived way, shoehorning Easter eggs, in-jokes and sequel setups in virtually every scene. We're looking at you, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Hellboy is part of Dark Horse Comics' BPRD universe and this line of titles is chock-full of characters worthy of their own spinoffs, from Liz Sherman to Abe Sapien.

BPRD even spawned its own series focusing on the eponymous paranormal investigators and it stood alone long after Hellboy's departure thanks to the introduction of new, flash-outed characters.

Universe building should never be rushed - just ask DC - but if Neil Marshall and co. can deliver a string of solid, standalone Hellboy movies, there's no reason why Big Red's BPRD teammates shouldn't follow his fiery footsteps to the big screen.
