Hellboy Reboot: 8 Things We Want From The Big Red Revival

5. Don't Ditch The Comedy Entirely

There were times when the Del Toro movies played out like weird comedies. Hell, the sequel was almost a rom-com wrapped up in a goofy bromance.

Ron Perlman was a convincing cigar-chomping Nazi smasher, but the scenes which depicted him as an endearing oaf are what gave the movies their heart, and it would be a shame if the reboot ditched them entirely.

Although we're in for a more grounded, bloodier affair, there's no reason why the R-rated carnage cannot be offset against some light humour. Deadpool, which put adult-themed comic movies back on the map, did this well.

That said, Deadpool's juvenile tone might not be the best fit if Hellboy is returning to his horror roots, but there are lessons to learn from the mouthy merc.
