Henry Cavill Wants To Be The Next James Bond
The Mission: Impossible actor throws his hat into the ring.
Daniel Craig's purported final appearance as Agent 007 is still a year or so away from release, but that hasn't stopped fans from predicting who the next Bond could be. Everyone from Idris Elba to Richard Armitage has been earmarked for the role, but another actor may have just thrown his hat - or tuxedo - into the ring as well.
Henry Cavill, who's perhaps most famous for his turn as Superman in the DC Extended Universe, has made public his interest in assuming the part of Bond after Danny Boyle directs the 25th entry in the franchise. The actor is no stranger to the world of espionage, having had a starring role in the reboot of The Man From U.N.C.L.E and in the most recent entry of Mission: Impossible as a CIA officer.
Speaking to Yahoo UK, Cavill believes that those aforementioned performances have given him the necessary experience to take on the part of 007.
"I would love to do it of course. I think Bond would be a really fun role... I think that now I have my Mission: Impossible badge we can do real stunts and really amp it up as well... I'd love to play a Brit... So yes, I would love the opportunity and if they were to ask I would say 'yes.'"
Irrespective of how Cavill may have faired as the Man of Steel, it is true that he's done a lot of work with the spy genre. Both U.N.C.L.E. and Mission: Impossible - Fallout have been well received (the latter especially), and though a casting announcement for Bond 26 is a way off from happening, Cavill is sure to be piquing interests at MGM.
